Arrive Logistics
Internal Offers
OVERVIEW:
Internal Offers was an internal project to develop a bidding style offer process to increase load offer activity, while also increasing the rate per load. Money is made in the brokering process: customer reps want to get carrier reps to move loads for more money and carrier reps want to try and move loads for less money. At some point (quickly), they settle on an agreeable rate and the load is booked.
BACKGROUND:
The current load overview window could not be changed, as it was a legacy format, and was slated for an overhaul down the road. A modal window with new design styling would need to overlay the existing load information page and integrate it into the current offers section. Some modifications had to occur in the offers section to display current offer information and assist with the new offers functionality. Before the development of this project, offers on loads could be made but not negotiated in real-time in the interface.
DESIGN:
A modal window with a new design language would overlay the legacy design. An eBay-style back-and-forth experience was created to enable both sides of the company: the customer sales rep and the carrier sales rep, to negotiate deals on shipping loads. Before this offers were submitted individually and declined or accepted. There was no incremental back-and-forth history to evolve rates. This didn't allow customer reps to keep potential carriers on the line to negotiate a price.
It was important to bring a two-way, conversational style negotiation experience to the offer process. In the development of this new experience, we also improved the input process of required information and awareness of beneficial data to make the most informed offers possible.
ROLE:
I was the lead and only designer on this project. I was brought into this project by a PM on another team to tackle the work. Together we listened and worked closely with the stakeholders to produce the outcomes you see below. This work was produced in 2021 while working in-house at Arrive Logistics.
