Arrive Logistics
Internal Offers
Arrive Logistics is a third-party shipping logistics company that brokers shipping deals between customers and carriers. By using proprietary enterprise software they assist customers with moving loads and carriers with finding loads to move. The internal platform is extremely complex and data-heavy.
OVERVIEW:
Internal Offers was an internal project to develop a bidding style offer process to increase load offer activity, while also increasing the rate per load. Money is made in the brokering process: customer reps want to get carrier reps to move loads for more money and carrier reps want to try and move loads for less money. At some point (quickly), they settle on an agreeable rate and the load is booked.

BACKGROUND:
The current load overview window could not be changed, as it was a legacy format, and was slated for an overhaul down the road. A modal window with new design styling would need to overlay the existing load information page and integrate it into the current offers section. Some modifications had to occur in the offers section to display current offer information and assist with the new offers functionality. Before the development of this project, offers on loads could be made but not negotiated in real-time in the interface.

DESIGN:
A modal window with a new design language would overlay the legacy design. An eBay-style back-and-forth experience was created to enable both sides of the company: the customer sales rep and the carrier sales rep, to negotiate deals on shipping loads. Before this offers were submitted individually and declined or accepted. There was no incremental back-and-forth history to evolve rates. This didn't allow customer reps to keep potential carriers on the line to negotiate a price.

It was important to bring a two-way, conversational style negotiation experience to the offer process. In the development of this new experience, we also improved the input process of required information and awareness of beneficial data to make the most informed offers possible.

ROLE:
I was the lead and only designer on this project. I was brought into this project by a PM on another team to tackle the work. Together we listened and worked closely with the stakeholders to produce the outcomes you see below. This work was produced in 2021 while working in-house at Arrive Logistics.

The first design was well received, but the stakeholders wanted to provide the reps with more information at hand to make better decisions on rates and load information.

A follow-up design created a split view of actionable tasks on one side and relational data and information on the other side. The reps can quickly obtain the information required without flipping to other screens. The process is meant to be extremely quick and often a deal can be made in less than a minute.

Below is a snapshot of the walk-through Sketch prototype presented to the stakeholders to discuss the new design concept and performance.

Below is a sketch prototype created to showcase the overall flow to the stakeholders. (NOTE: The dashboard design was legacy design and the modal overlay experience and integration into the legacy dashboard was the scope of the project.)
